The Diversity Enrichment & Achievement Program is designed using a tiered approach supporting and developing our students from the first year to graduation. Each cohort of DEAP scholars will matriculate through each of the following tiers:
The First Year Experience is the first tier of the Diversity Enrichment & Achievement Program (DEAP). The mission of the First-Year Experience Tier of DEAP is to provide the knowledge, skills, and support to enhance the transition and success of first-year participants' at IU Indianapolis.
The DEAP Sophomore Leadership Program includes a monthly workshop series for second-year DEAP participants. These workshops are designed to teach participants the interpersonal skills, knowledge of culturally unbiased professionalism, proficiency, and competencies encouraged to fully engage as emerging student leaders. This series, along with other 2nd year-focused initiatives, will allow the student to take full advantage of their time in college to augment their role as leaders for the campus, within their community, and in their everyday lives.
Career ConNEXTions is the final tier of the three-tier program structure of DEAP. The targeted workshops and initiatives on a wide array of topics related to career preparation, professional, and graduate school admission are to aid students in transitioning from their role as students to working professionals in their career field after graduating from IU Indianapolis. Through providing expertise, resources, and support, we assist students in maximizing their post-secondary education degree and working toward achieving the highest level of career achievement.
DEAP offers academic coaching and support to program participants. DEAP is committed to providing students with the tools, guidance, and support to maximize their full academic potential in the achievement of their educational goals. Services may include, but are not limited to:
