The Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program (DEAP) is open to all IU Indianapolis students who can benefit from holistic support throughout their academic experience. DEAP is open to all students, but the program specifically targets students of color at IU Indianapolis as a means to engage, connect, affirm, and guide them toward academic success. The college experience is often one that is not traveled alone. The journey to college, and the challenges thereafter in obtaining one’s undergraduate degree, is often a shared family experience.
Along this journey, DEAP is here to assist students through their collegiate experience. DEAP is devoted to helping students make a successful and fulfilling transition to IU Indianapolis. The program is a resource from the first day students join DEAP (as a first-year or transfer student) and throughout their IU Indianapolis undergraduate career. DEAP is a partner with students to help them start their IU Indianapolis experience with confidence and resources, along with helping them achieve academic excellence, establish professional networks, and discover the vast resources at the IU Indianapolis campus and within the Indianapolis community.
Despite these advantages, some students, unfortunately, fail to take advantage of their resources. Students are encouraged to participate in the program’s initiatives and services. Please join me in encouraging your student to remain engaged and to seek assistance proactively if he or she experiences ANY difficulties. We extend our hand, but we can only help when students accept our assistance! Our philosophy is that all students are capable of maximizing their potential.
